Are Hair Extensions Right For Me?

I know I can't be the only one who scrolls through Pinterest and Instagram wishing all of the gorgeous heads of hair were my own! The truth is, more often than not, the finished style includes some sort of hair extensions. Let's go over what all goes into hair extensions after the photo is taken.

Maintenance: Regular maintenance appointments are crucial. Keeping the natural hair + extension hair is so important. Take care of your investment by scheduling move ups every 6-8 weeks. This time frame differs depending on how fast/slow your hair goes. However, anything past 8 weeks have the strong possibility of damaging your natural hair and the extensions.

Day to day: Hair extensions will allow you so much saved time when getting ready. All of the extension types offered at Blonde Ave. Salon are real human hair. This means they can be washed and styled with hot tools safely and last all week. Curl your hair Monday, wash it Sunday!

Brushing hair with an extension safe brush throughout the day is so important in order to prevent tangles. It fits perfectly in a purse or bag for easy access.

Using an oil on the mids and ends of the extensions will keep them hydrated, protected and seal the cuticle. Our scalp produces natural oils, called Sebum. The Sebum will protect + nourish the natural hair since it is attached to a follicle, but won't reach the extensions. That's why it's important to add the oils to keep the extensions from drying out and last 9-12 months.

Blow drying your hair on wash day is so important to keep the extensions healthy. Going to sleep with wet or damp hair, will cause so many tangles and matting. Hair extensions are meant to enhance your natural hair all while keeping the natural in a healthy state. Always place hair in a low pony or braid to prevent friction against the pillow.
